Sorry for the late blog post, but here we go.
Bobcat Build is March 28. For those of you that don't know, this is a large campus wide event for all interested organizations to come together and do some community service for the city. It's usually a ton of fun and it gives you something nice to do on a Saturday! We will be having a sign up sheet at the next meeting to find out how many members are interested. If you can't make it but know you can be available that Saturday, send one of your friendly officers an email and they will make note of it for you.
Unfortunately, due to some paperwork issues we will not be on the quad this Thursday. It is projected to be pretty chilly (around the 30s) in the morning anyways, so maybe we will all not catch the flu that day instead. Game night is still going to be in the Lair in LBJ at 7 though, so layer up!
As for the discussion, the topic was "Secularism in Families". Some things that got brought up were:
-How do two people with different belief systems maintain a happy and healthy relationship? Is that actually possible? If it is, how do you later address how to raise your children?
-Where does your morality come from? Can you be a "good" person and instill good beliefs to your family without religion? Of course the answer is yes, but how people would go about it differs by the individual.
-It was also said that it may even be more possible to be a moral being without religion because there is no reward or punishment for your actions. A person is being good purely for the sake of being good and being kind to their fellow mankind with no thought of it "coming back" to them later.
And that's about it for now! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week.
See ya soon,
